What to expect on the day

• A very fine needle places small injections of a sclerosant solution along the surface vessels — spider veins are treated directly, without ultrasound guidance.
• Wear loose-fitting clothing and bring your compression stockings to wear immediately after treatment.
• Walking is encouraged straight after your session — it promotes deep-vein blood flow. Avoid strenuous exercise and prolonged standing for a few days, as directed.
• Redness and small raised wheals along the injected vessels are expected on the day, with bruising to follow — this settles over the following weeks. More than one session is commonly required.
